I think one of the worst traits shown by certain people is the need to make others feel sorry for them.
They spend precious time making sure they share all their bad news and sad tidings with anyone that wants to listen. They seem to be reassured by others showing sympathy and expressing their pity.
I wonder to myself what benefit they feel they receive. By sharing their woes actually offers them no respite or possible solutions.
To me my pride and dignity are paramount but so is my ability to take action and bring about change in my own life. Nobody else is going to be able to take over your life and sort out your problems.
It seems too easy for many people to feel sorry for themselves. They see their life stuck in a rut and think I don’t deserve this but then their every action and words portray their sense of misery unhappiness and foreboding.
Their minds simply don’t see things getting any better only worsening. Their main emotion is fear. Fear of the future and what’s going to happen to them. But it should be obvious to them that this type of attitude is going to ensure they just continue feeling that everything about their life is wrong and having no excitement about what their future holds.
They have an alternative and that is to shake themselves out of their melancholy attitude, because it is this is stopping them from achieving the kind of life that they have always wanted. They have to let go of all the emotional baggage that they have. Forgive those who have hurt them and forget the trials and tribulations they’ve had to endure.
At times when you’re surrounded by these type of people it’s like attending a pity party.
“Self pity is easily the most destructive of the non-pharmaceutical narcotics; it is addictive, gives momentary pleasure and separates the victim from reality.” John Gardner
So if you see yourself being one of those people, its time for you to stop feeling sorry for yourself right now.
It’s a waste of time and your talent. I know it’s easier to sit there and moan and groan, but seriously it’s doing you no favours.
It’s easy to tell yourself that you have all these challenges in life or your kids, partner, mother are holding you back, putting you down, are responsible for the way life is for you. You’re wasting your breath and throwing away your time.
This is the challenge of your lifetime. What are you going to do? Are you going to watch the years slip away faster and faster until there’s no time left? Or are you going to take the miracle of each moment and turn it into something beautiful, meaningful, and eternal? It’s up to you. Do it now before it’s too late. I believe in you and I always have. You can do this. It’s now time to stop feeling sorry for yourself.
