How many times did you smile today? How many times did you give thanks for your life? Life is not a dress rehearsal. This is the main event. This is the time to find the key to happiness. I see so many unhappy people in this world. They hate their jobs, they don’t like their homes, they dislike their boss, they don’t like their own appearance, generally they’re unhappy with their lives.
How often have you said these type of things to yourself:
If only I had the right job, then I’d be happy.
If only I could find the right person to marry, then I’d be happy.
If only I had more friends, then I’d be happy.
If only I had more money, then I’d be happy.
What is the meaning of life? To be happy and useful. Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama
Society today seems to be plagued by more problems and greater unhappiness than ever before. Surely our number one goal in life is the desire to be happy. What is the key to true happiness?
Our lives evolve, we are constantly changing. That is the beauty of life. Nothing ever needs to stay the same. Growth is a natural progression for us. The world is our oyster, the saying goes, we are constantly on the move. Embracing happiness on our quests truly empowers us.
So many people strive for success in their lives. They work all the hours they can, in the hope that sometime in the future they will be able to spend time being happy. But until then they will pay the price of success. Well, I’m a very goal focused person, I have many targets I want to achieve, but never will I try to succeed at these things at the cost of my happiness. Why would I let a day go by, without being happy? I don’t get that day back.
Once gone, it’s gone for ever. Stop sacrificing day by day, waiting to be happy. Let your life, and your future success be driven by finding the key to happiness.
“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” Herman Cain
You have to realise, life is lived in the present, one moment at a time, not, in the past or in our future. Focus on what is happening now, and enjoy every single second of this life you have.
Don’t whittle your days away planning for the future without first falling in love with this moment – right Now. Discover gratitude for life itself – and you will find the magic that life can bring. Do you dare to love each moment as if it were your last? Of course this doesn’t mean that all problems and obstacles will disappear, but your drive and belief will be so much stronger.
It’s easy to have a great attitude when things are going our way. It’s when difficult challenges rise before us…that attitude becomes the difference maker. John C. Maxwell
Gratitude is so powerful. No matter what is going on outside of us, there’s always something we could be grateful for. How much better would your life feel, if you shifted from the “what is missing in my life” mindset to “what is already there for me to enjoy.”
Being grateful feels good. Gratitude, the state or feeling of being thankful, has a number of benefits including having less frequent negative emotions and more frequent positive emotions such as feeling energized, alert, and enthusiastic. It is definite, that the mere act of giving thanks can have a remarkable impact on a person’s life, so it’s pretty stupid not to adopt this way of being for yourself.
Grateful people are happier, have stronger feelings of social support, and feel less stressed and depressed. Doesn’t that sound better than you’re living right now?
So start to notice the good things you have already in your life more, and then be amazed at how quickly your life grows, and the success you will achieve. All the while you will be so much happier than you are RIGHT NOW! Realise that whatever you want for your future NOW is the only time you can make a difference.
Your life counts for something. No longer live by accident or allow negativity to spiral out of control. Remember:
No one is in control of your happiness but you; therefore, you have the power to change anything about yourself or your life that you want to change. Barbara de Angelis
