Being healthier doesn’t have to mean revamping your entire lifestyle. Sometimes all it takes is a few simple changes.
As a 50 something blogger I know that as one ages their body tends to start deteriorating. So it is vital to look after your health and make it an essential priority in your life.
Do something physically active
We’ve all heard about the importance of maintaining fitness and regular cardiovascular exercise. However, many of us don’t get nearly enough activity to stay fit, due to sedentary jobs and lifestyles, and crazily busy work schedules.
Regular moderate daily physical activity goes a long way to help us maintain and improve our fitness. as well as our sense of well-being.
You have to start somewhere and walking is a brilliant place to do that.
Connect with Other People
By our very nature, humans are social animals. We are not born to be alone to isolate ourselves from others. Connecting with other people is essential to our survival and growth.
Get out there, join a class or take up an activity where you can join a club, like badminton.
Drink 2 litres of water a day
Water is fundamental to all life on earth. Our bodies are made up of 60% water and it is used in every function that takes place in our body, so we simply can’t survive without it.
Carry around with you a bottle of water and drink from it regularly. Remember this is the most important medicine that your body needs, so take it.
We all know that what we eat has a big impact on our physical and mental wellbeing, but it also affects your mental happiness.
Eating three meals a day will keep your energy levels up and keep you feeling good all day long.
Get a Hobby
So much of our lives are taken up by the pressures of work these days that we can sometimes forget about what we enjoy. I assure you taking some time out to do an activity that you love will refresh you, relax you and bring you time out to recharge your performance at everyday living.
Exercise your mind
Just like the rest of your body your brain needs exercise too in order to stay healthy. I love doing sudoko and crosswords, they not only give me a break from my work but also take my mind away from my normal thinking and challenge me in a total different way. I also enjoy reading, and try everyday to read a chapter or two of a book, generally they’re personal development literature which certainly feeds my brain in a positive way.
You Need To Relax
We all have stress in all sorts of way and need to make time for relaxation. I write frequently about the effects of stress and assure you that doing something to reduce its effect on your mind and body is extremely beneficial. I personally love using progressive muscular relaxation and meditation.
Sleep is as important to our health as eating, drinking and breathing. It refreshes the mind and repairs the body. You should try to get about 8 hours a day to get the most benefit from it.
So with a priority in your life being to get your health in order, these simple 8 steps will go a long way to achieving this.
